Le concert est commencé, silence S V P

Do you believe in second chances?

The Stills' "Logic Will Break Your Heart"= love-at-first-listen.
The Stills' "Without Feathers" = disappointment-at-first-second-third-and so on-'06 listens.

Maybe I didn't like The Stills's second album right away because I really enjoyed the over-the-top drama of "Still in Love Song", agreed that "Changes are no Good" or because "Lola Stars and Stripes" made me want to grab a M16.
Their sound shifted from Interpolesque to Strokesque (not that it is a bad thing, both are safe grounds), but I kept wanting more of their old sound, more Fletcher than Hamelin, hence when I heard the whats-up-with-all-the-(previouslynonexistent)-brass "Without Feathers" almost a year ago, I mentally discarded it and moved on to other albums. Here I find myself, into 2007, clapping, smiling and dancing to some tunes on this CD, and ok with more exdrummer-nowsingerHamelin than Fletcher. To mention a couple of examples, suddenly I dig "Halo the Harpoon" with its Chopin-like melody, and swing to "Baby Blues" that features the sweet Emily Haines. "Destroyer" is fun with its epic horn section (btw, check out Ultima Bengala's new track "Amigo", with horn section too!).

In short, the Stills doesn't look so bad without feathers after all! I have hopes for this line-up.

I was going to put up the "Destroyer" video here for your easier viewing, but STILL the STILL's best video is the one for the "STILL in Love Song" (all puns intented=P) Enjoy the creepy(faces) + cool(strings) slow motion.

Now, Do you believe in third chances? (Lame way to link "second chances" and "threesomes").
Check out Jamiroquai's excellent threesome-theme song. It is one of the two new songs featured in "High Times: Singles 1992-2006" collection (the great "Runaway" being the other).
something she's keeping from me,
I'm not dumb
I don't give a damn: three's not a crowd
I'm a man, I'm a man. She likes boys, she likes girls.

Click to listen (right click or something to download it) from here.
(I think Jay Kay would agree with this sharing, since he is so pissed at his record label, and argued that the next album will be put up on the net for $5).

(I can't believe I'm still talking about the Stills!...desborde):
Here's a funny quote from Tim Fletcher:
I’ve always had a problem sizing myself up and feeling at par with my peers—as a teenager I was anxious, panicky and depressive. I had a hard time processing my impressions of everyone around me, and the realm of women was certainly out of the question. (in an article for Maisonneuve, September 2005)
I find it quite funny how he says "and the realm of woman was CERTAINLY out of the question".
